About China Airlines

Founded on 7 September 1959, China Airlines is owned by Taiwan-based China Airlines Group and operates China Airlines Cargo, a member of SkyTeam Cargo. It operates a fleet of freighter aircraft and manages its parent airline’s cargo-hold capacity. Mandarin Airlines is its sister airline that manages flights to domestic and low-demand regional destinations. Another sister airline Tigerair Taiwan is a low-cost carrier established by China Airlines and Singaporean airline group Tigerair Holdings. However, Tigerair Taiwan is now fully owned by China Airlines Group.

China Airlines is the national carrier of the Republic of China that has its headquarter in Taipei Taoyuan International Airport. It is one of the two major airlines along with EVA Air. The airline operates over 1400 flights on a weekly basis, which includes 91 cargo flights. Besides, it serves 102 cities across Europe, Asia, North America and Oceania.

Destinations Served

China Airlines presently flies to 118 airports in 115 cities across four continents on approximately 1,400 flights each week (including all-cargo flights) (excluding codeshare; brackets indicate future destinations). It flies nearly 180 flights weekly from numerous places in Taiwan to 14 Japanese destinations, which apparently shows that Japan is a crucial market for the carrier.

China Airlines has two terminals at the airport: one in Terminal 1 and the other in Terminal 2. Terminal 1 handles flights to Europe, India, Korea, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia, while Terminal 2 handles flights to China, Japan, North America, and Oceania. In addition, China Airlines and its local subsidiary Mandarin Airlines operate a number of flights between Kaohsiung International Airport and Taipei Songshan Airport, Taipei’s central airport.

The fleet size of China Airlines includes Airbus A321neo (2), Airbus A330-333(23), Airbus A350-900 (14), Boeing 737-800 (17) Boeing 777-300ER (10), which are in service as of January 2022.
